Sending messages on LinkedIn is exhausting. You open someone's profile, scroll through their posts, check their job history, read a few comments they left, and try to piece together something intelligent to say. Thirty minutes later, you've crafted one message. And you have fifty more people to contact.
Most of us just give up and send the same generic template to everyone. It feels wrong, but what else are you supposed to do?
We built Hey Salesman because we were tired of that trade-off. We wanted to send messages that actually felt personal without spending our entire day doing research.
What It Actually Does
Hey Salesman is an inbox built for LinkedIn. It pulls in all your messages from LinkedIn, Sales Navigator, and LinkedIn Recruiter into one place. When you open a conversation, you see everything about that person right there. Their work history, what they studied, posts they've written, comments they've made, articles they've shared. All of it is organized and easy to read.
The AI understands all of that context. It knows what the person has been talking about, what they care about, and what might actually resonate with them. It also knows about you-your background, your conversation history with them, and how you like to communicate.
When you're ready to write a message, you can ask the AI to draft something. Or you can write it yourself and ask the AI to rewrite it. Or you can just chat with the AI about the person and figure out what makes sense to say. It adapts to however you like to work.
How It Works in Real Life
Imagine you want to reach out to someone who just posted about a challenge their company is facing. Normally, you would need to read the post, check who they are, look at their job history to understand their role, and then figure out if you have anything useful to say.
With Hey Salesman, you open the conversation and all of that information is already there. You can see their post, their background, and their recent activity in one view. You can ask the AI something like "what should I say to this person" or "summarize what they've been posting about lately." The AI gives you an actual answer based on real information, not generic advice.
When you draft a message, it sounds like you because you've set up a persona that matches how you communicate. The AI uses that persona, combines it with everything it knows about the person, and helps you write something that feels genuine.
Who This Is For
We built this for people who send a lot of LinkedIn messages. Salespeople reaching out to prospects. Recruiters looking for candidates. Founders talking to investors. Job seekers contacting hiring managers. Anyone who needs to have real conversations with a lot of different people.
The common thread is that all of these people used to spend hours every week doing research and drafting messages. Now they spend that time actually having conversations.
How It Works Technically
Hey Salesman is a web app. We also offer a Chrome extension so that it runs inside of LinkedIn. You install it and it just shows up in your workflow. You don't need to learn a new platform or switch between tabs. Everything happens where you already work.
You can create personas for different situations. One for sales conversations, another for recruiting, another for casual networking. You can also save snippets of prompts or instructions that you use often, so you don't have to retype the same guidance every time.
The AI remembers everything. Every conversation you've had, every post the person has made, every comment they've left. That means you never lose context, even if you're picking up a conversation from three months ago.
The Bottom Line
LinkedIn messaging has always been a choice between being personal and being efficient. You could spend all day crafting thoughtful messages, or you could blast out templates and hope for the best.
Hey Salesman makes it so you don't have to choose. You can send messages that feel real and actually reference things the person cares about, without spending hours on research. The AI does the tedious work of reading through profiles and posts. You focus on the actual conversation.
That's what we built. A tool that handles the research so you can focus on talking to people like a human being.
